Spinal Cord Injury

Course Description:
This theory based course introduces learners to what spinal cord injury is and the range of effects a spinal cord injury can lead to. This is an essential course for all staff supporting young people with a spinal cord injury, giving essential information on the levels of support and person centred approaches.

Course Outline: 

  • Overview of spinal cord anatomy and the functions of the spine and its components
  • Risk factors to spinal cord injury
  • Symptoms and effects of spinal cord injury
  • The social and emotional effects of spinal cord injury
  • Rehabilitation and long term care needs
  • Person centred care and support

Course Duration:

The trainer will carry out an on-going assessment, and practical observation

All delegates will receive a certificate of attendance

The course can be delivered at locations to suit the client or at one of our training venues (please note that should we deliver this course at your venue we will require a suitable room with tables available)
Maximum number of delegates per trainer is 15
