Nutritional Support (PEG care)

Course Description:
This course provides the essential information for all staff working with and providing care to children and young people with a PEG (percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy). It will look at good PEG care, as well as wider support needs around nutritional care for the child or young person.

Course Outline: 

  • Explain what we mean by nutritional support and parenteral nutrition
  • Overview of the three main types of nutritional support
  • Look at the administration of medicines through a PEG including BAPEN guidance
  • Ethical issues that could arise in relation to nutritional support
  • Daily care and support needs of individuals with a PEG

Course Duration:

The trainer will carry out an on-going assessment

All delegates will receive a certificate of attendance

The course can be delivered at locations to suit the client or at one of our training venues
Maximum number of delegates per trainer is 15
