Communication (AAC) Developing Strategies

Course Description:
This course covers the areas looked at in our introduction course and builds to explore communication models, assessment and planning to support effective communication. This is an essential course children social care staff (as well as other healthcare staff) who work with individuals with communication difficulties, including those whose role involves the care and support planning to support effective communication.

Course Outline: 

  • The importance of communication in relation to self-identification and self-expression
  • Look at the different parts of communication
  • Explore the range of communication difficulties, including specific communication related conditions
  • Look at the communication development model and its use in support planning
  • Look at strategies to support communication
  • Identify communication systems including assistive technology
  • Explore the benefits of a total communication environment

Course Duration:

The trainer will carry out an on-going assessment

All delegates will receive a certificate of attendance

The course can be delivered at locations to suit the client or at one of our training venues
Maximum number of delegates per trainer is 15
