Managing the Safe Handling of Medicines

Course Description:
This course includes and builds on from the safe handling of medicines course and has been specifically designed to meet the needs of managers and senior members of staff, who have responsibility for supervising and overseeing the handling of medicines in health and social care.

Course Outline:
In addition to the 6hrs safe handling of medicines course, this learning event covers the following learning outcomes:

  • Deeper understanding of the requirements of CQC and complying with current standards around the safe handling of medicines
  • Carrying out risk assessments in relation to self-administration of medicines and example risk assessments
  • The need for medication audit and monitoring compliance
  • Explore the range of medication aids to promote independence and self- administration of medication
  • Assessing the competency of staff who administer or support with medication

Course Duration:

The trainer will carry out an on-going assessment, and practical observation

All delegates will receive a certificate of attendance

The course can be delivered at locations to suit the client or at one of our training venue
