Epilepsy & Learning Disability

Course Description:
The course is an essential resource for all health and social care staff who work with and support individuals with learning disability and epilepsy, it explores current beliefs around epilepsy as well as looking at the ongoing support needs of the individual the importance of partnership working.

Course Outline: 

  • Provide an overview of epilepsy and individuals with a learning disability
  • Look at understanding of epilepsy and the effects this has
  • Identify some of the more common seizure types
  • Explore the diagnosis of epilepsy and the difficulties of diagnosing with adults with learning disability
  • Look at some of the treatments for epilepsy
  • What to do when someone is having a seizure
  • Record keeping, documentation and wider support needs

Course Duration:

The trainer will carry out an on-going assessment

All delegates will receive a certificate of attendance

The course can be delivered at locations to suit the client or at one of our training venues
Maximum number of delegates per trainer is 15
