Behaviour & Low Arousal Intervention

Course Description:
This is a comprehensive course for all health and social care staff who work with individuals who present behaviour which challenges services. The course covers the principles of positive behaviour support and as well as covering the theory aspects of behaviour support, introduces the principles of both safety as well as disengagement and holding techniques based on least restrictive practices.

Course Outline: 

  • Understand what we mean by the term behaviour that challenges
  • Explore why individuals may present behaviour that challenges services
  • Identify levels of behaviour and explore appropriate responses
  • Understand the importance of positive behaviour support and pro-active behaviour support
  • Look at current policy and best practice
  • Explore the importance and role of recording and post incident de-brief
  • Understand the behaviour risk model
  • Practical application of personal safety as well as disengagement and holding techniques

Course Duration:
12hrs* (*dependent on need of the service)

The trainer will carry out an on-going assessment as well as assessment of practical strategies

All delegates will receive a certificate of attendance

The course can be delivered at locations to suit the client or at one of our training venues
